Security guards kill 71-yr-old man, daughter over unpaid salary

The police in Ondo State have paraded two security guards who allegedly murdered a 71-year-old man and his 27-year-old daughter over alleged delay in salary payment.

The deceased, Kwakye Kwaku Richard and his daughter, Kwakye Tope were declared missing on May 2nd from their home located in Ojomo Akintan estate, Olu Foam, Ilesa/Owo express road, Akure, the state capital.

Apart from the two, their two security guards, Ayuba Idris and Taisu Abubakar were also declared missing.

Following the report, police swung into action and arrested 20-year-old Ayuba Idris in Kano State on May 16.

The handset of the 71-year-old man and his suits were said to have been recovered from Idris.

Ondo State Commissioner of Police Undie Adie said the suspect led detectives to a building in the estate where the decomposed bodies of Richard and his daughter were found and evacuated to the State Hospital mortuary, Akure for autopsy.

The CP said on May 28, detectives also tracked 23-year-old Taisu Abubakar to Sokoto State where he was picked up.

“One of the victim’s laptop computers and some clothes were recovered from him. Upon interrogation, he also confessed to the murder of the victims,” the CP added.

The two suspects, according to him, said they killed Richard, who was their employer, because he refused to pay their three months’ salaries.

They said they also decided to kill the daughter on the same day in order to cover their track since she saw them when they killed her father, the CP added

The police boss said the suspects would soon be charged to court.
