Three Robbers Arrested as One Jumps into Lagos Lagoon to Escape


The agents of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, in Lagos have captured three 'one-chance robbers' on the Third Mainland Bridge.

Following police pursue, one of the suspects jumped into the Lagoon with the group's loot to get away.

The RRS said the looters including, 27-year-old John Akinyemi; 37-year-old Paul Oliseh, and Amos Williams, were captured on Monday evening on the Third Mainland bridge.

RRS said that its men observing the Iyana-Oworo hub of Lagos pursued and captured the suspects after a tip-off.
They pursued the one-chance burglars working from a Volkswagen transporter transport with enrollment number, AKD 562 XP to the extension.

Police said the looters relinquished their vehicle and were escaping by walking when they were captured.

One of the looters, who was later recognized as Junior, 19, was purportedly hit by speeding vehicles twice on the scaffold before bouncing off into the Lagoon

The pioneer of the group, John Akinyemi, revealed to the police that there are four of them.

"I'm responsible for calling the group to work. It was our first outing for the day. We got four travelers in Estate Bus Stop in Alapere. They were going to Oshodi. We seized them and dropped them off before Iyana-Oworo in a steady progression.

"We took their telephones and cash. We have been doing this for over three months. We offer the cell phones and gems, and we share the cash."

One of the casualties, Semiu Oluwaseun, who alarmed the RRS officers instantly he was tossed out of the speeding transport, said the criminals gathered his telephone and the entirety of N500,000.

Another casualty, Jamiu Ojuroye, who was burglarized on Sunday, distinguished John Akinyemi, as the driver of the transport. He noticed that he was victimized on Sunday night and that he was ransacked of N150,000 before they tossed him out of the speeding vehicle.

Ojuroye included that subsequent to battling with the burglars, they splashed a peppery substance in his face, took his cash before throwing him off around 8pm.

The burglars were marched today by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, at the Command Headquarters.
