INEC Releases Dates of 2019 elections


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday released the notice of exercises for the 2019 general elections.

Mrs Ndidi Okafor, Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Gender and Civil Society Liaison of INEC, FCT disclosed to NAN that the notice was as per segment 30 of the Electoral Act 2010.

As indicated by the notice, gathering of assignment frames for national and state races by political gatherings is settled between Aug 17 and Aug. 24.

Accumulation of structures for FCT races will happen between 3 Sept. also, 10 Sept.

"The last date for accommodation of designation frames by political gatherings has additionally been planned for Dec. 3 for presidential and National Assembly Elections and state races Dec. 17.

"The accumulation of assignment frames for FCT Area Council races would begin on Nov. 3 to Nov. 10, while the last date for the arrival of the designation frames is Dec. 14.

"On Oct 25, INEC will distribute the individual particulars of National decision hopefuls and those of the state competitors on Nov. 9."

Okafor said INEC had reported Nov. 17 as the last date for the withdrawal or swap of possibility for president and National Assembly decisions, and Dec. 1 for governorship and state places of gathering decisions.
INEC would on Jan. 2, 2019 distribute notice of the surveys, and on Jan. 7, 2019 distribute official enroll of voters for the decision, which will start with the presidential and National Assembly races on 16 February.
