Sterling Bank Staff Lands in Hot Soup After Stealing Customers' N2million


Chidebere Ikenna, a previous staff of Sterling bank, who supposedly fled with N2million owned by the bank's clients, was on Tuesday charged at the Igbosere ‎Magistrates' Court, Lagos. 

As indicated by The Nation, Ikenna, 41, of No. 74‎, Akintomide Street, Ijegun, Satellite Town, Lagos, is standing trial on a one check charge of stealing. 

Arraigning cop, Insp. Abbass Abayomi, said Ikenna submitted the affirmed offense at some point in November 2016, at the bank's Lagos Island branch. 

"Inconvenience began when clients of the bank came to grumble that cash saved in their records was not reflected in the announcement of records. 

"The bank explored the clients' cases and found that the respondent had a case to reply. In any case, he departed suddenly before he could be captured," Abayomi said. 

As per him, the offense contradicted Section 280 and culpable under Section ‎287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. 

Ikenna argued not guilty to the charge. 

Judge Abimbola Komolafe allowed him safeguard in the total of N1million, with two sureties in like aggregate. 

"The sureties must be profitably utilized, indicate proof of three years charge installment and sworn statement of means, among others," the officer included. 

The case was deferred till November 14.
