Dare Devil Armed Robbers Kill Two Policemen, Cart Away Millions from Skye Bank in Ondo

A branch of the Skye Bank Plc in Ifon, headquaters of the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, was on Thursday, attacked by gang of armed robbers who killed two policemen securing the bank and left with an undisclosed huge measure of cash. 

As indicated by PUNCH Newspaper, the occurrence put a stop to social and business exercises in the town for a few minutes as occupants living near the bank kept running for security amid the burglary operation which was said to have gone on for 40 minutes. 

An onlooker said the gangsters numbering fifteen raged the premises of the bank at around 3pm and exploded the bulletproof door of the bank with substance suspected to be explosive before getting access. 

A portion of the looters were said to have engaged with the policemen in a gun battle outside the bank while others ransacked the bank's vault. 

It was accumulated that stray shots from the robbers killed a yet to be recognized man at a medicinal center adjacent to the bank 

The observer stated, "They came in three vehicles and they were up to 15 in number, they were heavily equipped. When they got to the bank they couldn't enter effectively on the grounds that the bank had quit taking care of clients. Along these lines, they needed to explode the entryway with explosive. 

"For a few minutes, they were shooting all over the place, two of the policemen that engaged with them were killed however none of the armed robbers was killed amid the shooting." 

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Femi Joseph affirmed the occurrence. 

He stated, "Tragically that we lost two of our men in the occurrence, however we are still on the trail of the robbers, they went to the manage an account with advanced weapon and inspite of that our men still connected with them. 

"The CP himself drove the group from Akure to the scene it was the point at which they (criminals) realized that we were surrounding the them that they fled with slugs wounds. We might get them soonest on the grounds that our men are still on their trail."
