Robbery Suspect Buried Alive In Ebonyi


Furious young people have supposedly buried alive a speculated equipped thief, Chukwudi Omaka, who alongside his posse individuals purportedly burglarized and murdered a specialist. 

The specialist, Idam Ogbonnia, was slaughtered at Amaisri people group in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Police yesterday paraded three of the individuals who purportedly killed Ogbonnia. 

A witness, who is an inhabitant of the group, Emmanuel Udu, said Omaka was likewise among looters who victimized a chilly room known as Etuelughu, having a place with Oko Udu Monday and another businessperson distinguished essentially as David, offering arrangements. 

He stated: "The nice looking kid (Omaka) was beaten altogether. Regardless of that, he declined to name his individuals. He was later covered alive by Amasiri adolescents." 

It was learnt that in the wake of covering Omaka, adolescents planted a tree on the grave as per the traditions of the group against any individual who perpetrated a wrongdoing. The convention has been as old as the group.

Those paraded included Gideon Omaka, Chukwudi Omaka's sibling and Idam Nwabueze Amadi. Parading the suspects before writers at the state Police Command Headquarters, Abakaliki, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dr. Jude Madu, said the speculates lay a snare for the group of Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and shot around three policemen. 

He said the occurrence happened last Friday and that a few suspects, including Gideon Omaka, were captured. 

Madu said the state chief of police had announced war on hoodlums by sending policemen to angle out offenders in the group.

Gideon told news men he was a former convict but did not know anything about the robbery for which his brother was killed. He said: “I was in my house when people attacked me and killed my brother, Chukwudi. I ran away.

They said my brother was one of those who robbed Idam Ogbonnia in my village.

My brother was the one who was buried alive when I ran away. The people later arrested me. “I just returned from prison that was why the people said I knew about the robbery that took place in my community for which my brother was accused, attacked and buried alive. I was released from prison March this year.”
