Kwara Disregards ASUU Strike

Scholastic exercises continued on Monday in the University of Ilorin and Kwara State University. The factional Chairman, ASUU, UNILORIN, Dr Usman Raheem, whose group is recognised by the UNILORIN administration, said the branch did not join the strike as it had not been a part of the national ASUU since 2001. He, be that as it may, said the branch was in help of the purpose behind the strike and asked the Federal Government to respect the agreement it came to with the national group of ASUU since 2009.

Another factional Chairman, ASUU, Dr Kunle Afolayan, whose group is perceived by the national ASUU, said the official of the branch would meet on Tuesday (today) on the strike. Afolayan stated, "The strike has quite recently been declared so we are yet to set up the mechanical assembly to authorize it.

It is from tomorrow (Tuesday) that branches will meet on the strike." Also at KWASU, It was noticed that not every one of the students were in school as the school continued sacademic exercises on Monday. The factional Chairman of ASUU, KWASU, Dr Adesola Dauda, whose group is perceived by the national assemblage of ASSU, said the branch did not join the strike as it was still in onlooker status.

He stated, "ASUU national is on strike yet KWASU is not on strike since we have quite recently joined

ASUU and by the constitution we need to watch." The factional Chairman of ASUU, KWASU, Dr. Issa Abdulraheem, who is perceived by KWASU administration, said the strike was not being observed and would not hold in the institution.

Abdulraheem stated, "On Wednesday we will have a congress. Something we will examine is the issue that prompted the national ASUU strike. We will explain to individuals why we are not joining."
