Gunmen Kidnap 11 Passengers After Hijacking Commercial Bus In Rivers

Armed men stole 11 individuals from a bus as they traveled near Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, on Monday a traveler who got away from the assault told AFP.

The area close Port Harcourt is a known hotspot for kidnappings by bunches hoping to get deliver settlements and was the scene of a snatching that saw 16 individuals grabbed not long ago.

"They trapped us at around 9.00 pm… and subsequent to requesting that we turn out from the bus, they endeavored to take us inside the hedge. Be that as it may, five of us got away before police and military forces arrived," said Amiekro Princewill.

Security powers looked through the zone following the assault, as indicated by another traveler who figured out how to get away from the shooters.

"They had gone far into the woodland with the casualties previously the security agents arrived," said the escapee, Bright Belekwe.

"Criminals trapped us and attempted to take us inside the hedge. I and four others got away before police work force touched base at the scene."

The abducting is the third such episode in only two months.
